The cyclone Biparjoy

On the 12th of June 2023, GDACS( Global Disaster Alert and Coordination System) posted on their website that a new tropical cyclone designated by them as Biparjoy on the 6th of June formed over the Arabian Sea and it started moving north towards north-western India and south-eastern Pakistan, and that on the 12th of June at 0:00(UTC) the cyclone's centre was located over the same sea about 480 km away from the Narayan Sarovar City in northern Gujarat state and with winds reaching speeds of up to 157 km/h.

On the 13th of June GDACS posted on their website that the cyclone Biparjoy was moving north towards western India and south-east Pakistan with winds reaching speeds of up to 167 km/h. On the 14th of June GDACS posted on their website that the same cyclone was moving northeast over the northern Arabian Sea winds reaching speeds of up to 155 km/h.

On the 16th of June GDACS posted on their website that the tropical cyclone Biparjoy's intensity has been reduced from very sever category to severe category after the cyclone made landfall near Jakhau port in Gujarat at 1:30 p.m.(UTC) on 15th of June with winds reaching speeds of up to 102 km/h. GDACS also posted on the 16th of June that the system is expected by them to reduce to a cyclonic storm and then into a deep depression as the cyclone was moving to northern Gujarat and southern Rajasthan trough the day.

In the gif above you can detect 2 videos of the cyclone Biparjoy as recorded by University of Wisconsin-Madison's SSEC(Space Science and Engineering Centre) and by CIMSS(Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies) cyclone Biparjoy in the Arabian Sea began a period of rapid intensification and strength late in the day on 09 June 2023, reaching Category 3 intensity by 12 UTC on 10 June, EUMETSAT Meteosat-9 Visible (0.64 µm) and Infrared Window (10.8 µm) images above showed Biparjoy during the 01:00-13:30 UTC period on 10 June 2023.

American weather

NOAA( National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) has declared the arrival of the El Nino weather phenomenon at the central and eastern Pacific Ocean on the 8th of June. On NOAA's website it says that El Nino is marked by wetter-than-average sea surface temperatures in the central and eastern Pacific Ocean and that it occurs in average every once in 2-7 years, and that it impacts beyond the Pacific Ocean. On their website it also says that the El Nino weather phenomenon favours strong hurricane activity in the central and eastern Pacific Ocean.

Whilst the El Nino phenomenon is appearing in the central and eastern Pacific Ocean storms are covering the deep south of the U.S.A. coming over from the Atlantic Ocean. On NOAA's website at the domain for the SPC( Storm Prediction Centre) and the page for the HREF( High Resolution Ensemble Forecast) it is shown that today as we go deeper into the day and then night, the south-eastern part of North America is going to be covered with storms, and then tomorrow at the start of the day the storm are going to dissipate and disappear until 13:00 when they're going to come back even stronger, and they will just keep covering the south-eastern region of North America for the day. There also have been storms in the deep south, or at least as far as the University of Wisconsin-Madison's CIMSS reports in one of its blog posts, on the 14th of June CIMSS detected thunderstorms that produced several tornadoes, hail as large as 5.00 inches in diameter, and damaging winds to 82 mph across parts of Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and Florida.

For next week

The cyclone Biparjoy which is specified in this article will continue to exist probably for another 3 more days at least, flooding and even destroying parts of the territories it ends up hovering over. And maybe it will even grow in size because it quickly comes in contact with the right conditions for that to happen.

The El Nino weather phenomenon will only get more intense and will keep influencing the global weather colossal scales, including contributing significantly and in an easy to be observed fashion.
